Do you know what the top killer of women is, based on the incidence rate of malignant tumours in females?

It is breast cancer, which is one of the most health risks for women, and it also has a severe psychological impact on women.

Every year, about 500,000 people die of breast cancer worldwide.

How can this be prevented?

One of the major factors behind breast cancer is the hormonal factor. The intake of high levels of fat and protein leads to the production of female sex hormones. Therefore, excessive intake of foods with high levels of fat and calories should be avoided.

Eat more vegetables, beans and fruits instead. Regular and moderate exercise is also suggested.

People can also conduct self-examinations. Breast cancer symptoms can vary widely and include changes in the shape of breasts, uneven edges and lumps or swellings in the armpit or breast.

The best self-examination period is one week after menstruation.

Family history is also a factor behind breast cancer.

Although self-examination is advised, regular examination at hospital is still needed because self-examination is likely not accurate, and there are no obvious symptoms during the early stages of breast cancer.

Doctors say mammograms are necessary for women, particularly when they are 45 years old and above.

The health screening of the mammary gland relies on a combination of mammography and B-mode ultrasound imaging.

The breast vacuum-assisted biopsy system is a new technology that can spot symptoms during ultrasounds imaging. It uses a 3mm needle to take relevant tissue samples for pathology tests.

Compared with a traditional pin biopsy, the cut is smaller, and more tissue can be removed. The test result is more accurate as well.

With the new technology, patients with a benign tumour can have their tumour cut out instead of having surgery.

The treatment therapies for breast cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and radiotherapy.

Magnetic resonance imaging has also been introduced in the diagnosis of breast cancer and is now more widely used to tell whether tumours are benign or malignant.

Early detection of breast cancer is the best approach to curing it.

The average 10-year survival rate of breast cancer patients is 60 percent, but early treatment can raise the survival rate to nearly 100 percent. However, based on the time of intervention, the survival rate can drop to 90, 70 or 50.

Do people need to worry about lobular hyperplasia?

It is not necessary as it is common and not a disease.

United Family Healthcare has teamed up with Zhongshan Hospital and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center for the treatment of breast cancer.

The hospital provides health examination packages featuring a combination of mammography and B-mode ultrasound to screen breast health.

It can arrange treatment quickly and create a pleasant environment for patients seeking high-quality service and privacy.
