Prof. Luo has been dedicated to minimally invasive surgical treatment of lung cancer, and is a pioneer of robotic-assisted minimally invasive thoracic surgery in China. He has performed over 20,000 surgeries as the primary surgeon, including more than 2,300 cases of robot-assisted surgery

Education Background:

◆Prof. Luo graduated from West China Medical University with a major in Clinical Medicine in 1988

◆In 2005, he obtained the Master’s degree in Anatomy from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine

◆In 2014, he received the Doctoral degree in Oncology from Nanjing Medical University

◆Since 2006, he has been serving as the Chief Physician of Thoracic Surgery at Shanghai Chest Hospital

◆Since 2020, he has also been serving as the Deputy Director of the Department of Oncology at Shanghai Chest Hospital

Working Experience:

◆With more than 30 years of medical practice, Dr. Luo has focused on the surgical treatment of thoracic diseases and has achieved remarkable success

◆He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). He serves as the Vice President of the Medical Robotics Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctors Association (CMPA) and is the founding chairman of the Thoracic Surgery Specialty Committee of the Medical Robotics Physicians Branch of the CMPA. In addition, he also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Thoracic Surgery Specialty Committee of the Simulation Medicine Department of the Wu Jieping Medical Foundation, demonstrating his extensive domestic and international academic experience

◆Prof. Luo has published dozens of SCI papers in prestigious journals, including Nat Mach Intell, J Exp Med, EBioMedicine, Ann Thorac Surg, Cancer Immunol Immunother, J Exp Clin Cancer Res, and Comput Biol Med, among other. In recent years, he has undertaken several national and municipal research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s National International Cooperation Special Project, Shanghai Natural Science Foundation, and several municipal-level projects. As a major participant, he has been awarded the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award (Second Class), the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award (Second Class), and the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Science and Technology Award (First Class)

Academic Achievement:

◆Prof. Luo plays an important role in multiple research projects, covering key technology translation in lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, tumor immune evasion mechanisms, tumor metastasis intervention strategies, AI-assisted surgery, and novel technology research.

◆Prof. Luo has published over 40 SCI papers as a first or corresponding author and he also has published over 13 domestic papers as a first or corresponding author
